One day, when the TK plant is finished, this will still be a destination campground.
I was probably the only person in the campground that was not working at TK but was spending the night for a meeting in Mt. Vernon. I'm not a picky camper but visited two other campgrounds in the area and left in disgust.
Their campground is amazing! It is beautifully shaded and extremely clean. Much much better than the other parks in the area. We are working at the TK steel mill and it is only 1 mile away from the back gate!
This place has lots of shade, nice trees, and a very professional and helpful campground host named Dale (who has incidentally written and published a book about hidden lakes in the delta. He grew up in the area and knows it like the back of his hand.
Though the place was full of contract workers leaving for TK in the morning, they were so quiet they didn't bother me.
My husband, dog, and I are currently staying at the campground. We absolutely love it. It is very quiet....which is extremely hard to find so many construction workers here! The campground itself is very pretty and the people that run are helpful and friendly. I've visited the other campgrounds in the area and they are messy and overcrowded. The town itself is not really a nice place...people are rude and there is nothing here. However, the campground really helps make this job a little more bearable!
